And he does it quickly, with one scout comparing him to the Road Runner in how he gets where he needs to be so swiftly. Sennecke is leading the charge and is coming off a handful of three-point performance.
He put up good numbers but was prone to make some crazy miscues while dishing the puck out. But when Mews is on his game, he commands attention like very few across the OHL. Still, he looked great at the Hlinka Gretzky, showing solid two-way ability and quick hands.
Cristall was considered a high-risk player that many public rankings were high on due to his eye-popping totals and package of skills, but he fell in the draft because front offices are more risk-averse. A few players who appear on this list will likely be further down or off of various team lists. The job of the model and a public ranking is not to assess intangibles and predict what will happen in the draft; that is reserved for the mock draft. For this reason, the mock draft will look quite a bit different from the rankings because conversations with scouts, teams and people around the game will be more heavily weighted to determine which team has Player X or Player Y rated differently. Howe started off spectacularly with six points in his first three games but has quieted down to a pace closer to his 85-point output last year. He made a splash with 45 points last year, displaying his powerful release against unsuspecting goalies.
At 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds, he has size, and he skates well enough for his frame, too. His ice time dwindled as time went on, but his play against U-20 players has been impressive.
The team that selects first overall will be getting a game-breaking talent and likely a franchise forward to build around. Of all the rankings I looked at, only EliteProspects. Eiserman is an elite goal-scorer, likely the best in this draft class, and can play at high speeds which bodes well for transitioning to the NHL. Eiserman came very close to breaking that record last season but came just shy with 69 in 62 games between the U17 and U18 teams. No rankings I looked at have him lower than third. He drives the offence, as evidenced by his 19 goals and 62 points through 41 games in the MHL last season. Once he finds some stability, the points will surely follow.
With a December birthday, Demidov is on the older side of first-year-eligible draft prospects. That said, the wait could be worth it as he could end up being a top-line scorer at the NHL level. NCAA Artyom Levshunov ranks anywhere in the four to six range, but I like him at the high end of that range, right after the big three. He skates well, can move the puck, and his shot is a real scoring threat. Levshunov currently has three goals and seven points through eight games. His skill set and ability to adapt could help him become a top-pair two-way defenceman at the NHL level.

He takes many useless shots and he lacks some hockey IQ with awareness. Still a good prospect, just not as high as we once were on him. Some who looked destined to go in the top 10 are now teetering on being first-round picks at all at this point. You can talk to scouts from NHL, Europe, college, major junior, you name it, and get completely wildly different opinions on the same players. Macklin Celebrini, C Boston University, NCAA After dealing with shoulder surgery over the offseason, it would have made sense if Celebrini had a slow start to his freshman college season as a 17-year-old. He was one of the most dominant players in the Russian junior league last year and looked solid during the KHL preseason. Despite limited KHL ice time, nobody is as creative as Demidov, who features a good mix of high hockey IQ, strong skating and tremendous vision. You can build a core around Demidov. At 6-foot-3, Dickinson has good speed, a great first stride and makes smart decisions with the puck. He has an NHL-caliber shot, but his bread and butter is being a dominant shutdown threat every single shift. From watching him a few times this year, I feel like he deserves more than the 0. The Medicine Hat Tigers forward seems to get better with every game, and he has tremendous speed for his frame. From talking to a few WHL defenders, Lindstrom might be the most feared player in a 1-on-1 situation due to his combination of speed, skill and pure mass. The upside here is enormous — literally. The big draw is his mobility, which allows him to move more like someone five inches shorter. He can be a bit slow to move the puck at points and game-to-game consistency needs improvement, but the potential for Silayev to become much more than just a skating skyscraper is tantalizing. After a fantastic rookie season with Spokane, Catton — one of the best playmakers in the draft — is on pace to break the 100-point barrier this year. But the younger brother of Columbus Blue Jackets prospect David Jiricek is still getting the chance to play against pros, where his decision-making with the puck has looked solid.
Regardless, he works hard and is often the first guy in on the forecheck. Once the top-12 or so prospects are off the board, Iginla will be the next best option for a team looking to add some speed and goal scoring, things that are always in short supply. Aron Kiviharju, LD, HIFK Liiga Aron Kiviharju has been the most talked about 2024 Draft eligible prospect over the two or three years, after playing most of his age-15 season in the top U20 junior league in Finland, scoring roughly a point per game as a small defenseman. He is an excellent puck handler in transition and walks the blue-line very confidently in the offensive zone. Kiviharju suffered a knee injury in a practice this Fall that led him to miss the majority of his draft year. Kiviharju is a really intelligent puck mover, controlling play with a poise beyond his years. He finished the season in the top 20 for goals and points in the OHL which is really impressive for a draft eligible player on a weaker team. Greentree does most things well, fighting hard in puck battles, making smart passes, and handling defensive responsibilities well. His greatest strength is his shot which looks like a quality NHL tool though his skill with the puck is noteworthy as well. The biggest barrier in the way of NHL success for Greentree at the moment is his skating. His hands are really quick and he plays with a ton of deception which made him one of the most dangerous offensive players in the entire USHL this season. Many NHL teams have reportedly expressed concern in drafting him due to an incident involving him posting a picture of a swastika on social media a little over a year ago. However, he can get a bit of tunnel vision and try to play hero-puck a bit, losing sight of the best play and turning the puck over by trying to deke too much. He has some work to do filling out his rather skinny 6-foot-3 frame, but there is some real promise in his offensive game. Chernyshov plays a very direct style, charging the net frequently whether he has the puck or not. He has had a rather slow start to this year production-wise, but his skill set looks well designed for the pro game with the ability to make strong plays and smart decisions at a higher pace than most teenagers. He has a really well-rounded tool kit as a 6-foot-1 center who skates well, has excellent skill with the puck and can create chances at will in the USHL. Ultimately, a lack of elite traits holds him back a little but Hage certainly has a chance to be a top-six forward in the NHL. The 12th overall pick in the 2022 QMJHL Draft was excellent in the USHL last year as a rookie with 45 points in 57 games, and he looks poised to improve on those numbers significantly this season. Boisvert is a big center 6-foot-2 with tons of skill with the puck and above average skating. Ritchie has a ton of skill and can be a daunting offensive force, slipping between checkers and making plays, but his consistency has left something to be desired this year. He can get pushed to the perimeter a bit but I think his skill and vision will be significant enough to offset that. The points have added up all season long and have become difficult for people to ignore. Elick is one of the best skaters in the draft class for my money, and a 6-foot-3, right-shot defenseman who skates like he can will always have a place in the NHL. He has a quick and accurate snapshot that has served him well in the J20 league this year, but his skating and work ethic are the most exciting attributes he has. At just 17 years old he has already played a handful of games in the SHL. There are always a few Swedes who rise up draft boards significantly following the U18s, and I expect Pettersson to be one of them this time around. He looks pretty similar on the ice to his older brother Lane, but Cole is a more physical defender and scored more points with the U17 team than Lane did, despite having a significantly later birthday. He scored an impressive 23 points in 54 KHL games this season. Artamonov is a skilled winger with good speed and a willingness to battle for pucks in difficult areas that makes him a really fun player to watch. Good thing too, since his wrist shot and one-time are both serious weapons.
His microstat profile is aburd through two games. In the offensive zone, Buium is a great quarterback from the point. He will shift across the point and pinch up with the puck in an effort to identify and utilize a passing lane to the slot. Defensively, Buium does a good job of positioning himself in front of the attack to take away skating lanes. He possesses a rare blend of skill, size, and speed as well as playing the coveted center position for one of the strongest teams in the WHL. Lindstrom is a fierce competitor who plays every game with a Tkachukian-edge. He boosts impressive speed and agility which he uses to frequently attack the middle of the ice on rushes. On the defensive side of the puck Lindstrom provides great support for his defenders when the puck is in the corners, and he also has a very active stick which he effectively uses to disrupt passing lanes. Lindstrom has the making of a star modern day power-forward and will certainly be one to watch as he is sure to move up draft boards as the year goes on. He has a pro-favoured frame at 6ft3 and 194 lbs, and uses it incredibly effectively in both ends of the ice. In the defensive zone, he nips plays in the butt, and accelerates the transition game with quick up passes. Skating is a strength, and there is no glaring weakness directionally. He can go all four directions well, with good agility to re position when needed. When defending against the rush, he communicates well with his forwards to explain where he needs the support prior to crossing into the defensive zone. He implements extremely good positioning to shut down passing and shooting lanes to the interior. Jiricek does a great job of re-adjusting his positioning when defending against multiple attackers to shut down potential one-timers. When behind the red line and along the boards, he plays with a physical edge and will look to pokecheck. He loves jumping into the rush and pinching up with and without the puck. He will look to position himself in the high slot and pepper shots on net. Levshunov has collected quite a few assists at 5v5 as a result of generating rebounds for his teammates at the crease. Since he likes to pinch up and play up in the offensive zone, there are shifts in which he finds himself slightly out of position and struggles to get back into position. He loves to take advantage of tight passing lanes when on the rush and pressure intensifies. Parekh will complete outlet and stretch passes underneath the stick of the attacker with ease. When off puck but his team has possession of the puck, Parekh loves to jump into the rush and provide his teammates with a passing option up ice. In the offensive zone, when pinching up he loves to change up his pace to throw off attackers and buy separation so he can net enough space to get a pass off to the interior. Last year the Finn put himself in the conversation as a potential top five pick, with 11 points in 33 Liiga games at just 16 years old. This year he has advanced that conversation further. That should probably be turning more heads than it has. He is a fantastic transition player and drives play as a result. His passing is crisp, accurate and deceptive, and while he might primarily be a play-maker he has a good shot, especially his one-timer from the left half-wall on the power-play. He is not the fastest, but is extremely shifty and agile. Helenius also has an exceptional compete level, and is more than solid defensively. Alex Appleyard 12 — Luke Misa, C, Mississauga Luke Misa plays a very high-tempo game, prays on the vulnerable when on the forecheck, can drive the rush and create chances off of the rush regularly. Misa will feather passes in tight lanes in all three zones as he looks to push play up ice. In the offensive zone when off puck, he does a great job of finding open ice down low to create an intriguing passing option for his teammates. He will also look to jump onto loose pucks at the crease and capitalize with a quick goal before the goaltender can react. Misa has tremendous upside and could see a bump up in our next set of rankings. The highest a Norweigan has been picked was Marius Holtet, who went 42nd overall in 2002. The Oslo native has everything to be a top NHLer. The things that make him stand out? His release is fantastic, he gets the puck off crisply, quickly, and with a high level of accuracy even if it is away from his body or in his feet. His hockey IQ is impressive, he is virtually never out of position and seemingly knows where everyone is on ice at all times. He is also a legitimate power-forward, who likes to throw his weight around and get to the net-front. On the boards he regularly dominates men 15 years his senior. Defensively he is also impressive, with an active stick and the ability to win most 1-v-1 battles. His skating is solid, but will need to get more explosive.
